Job Summary:
Operation, inspection, and repair of ammonia refrigeration systems in a Frozen Food Manufacturing Environment in accordance with IIAR and ASHRAE standards, state and local building codes, and required safety regulations. Performs periodic inspections to locate and determine cause of equipment malfunctions. Troubleshoots, maintains, repairs, and inspects ammonia compressors, air compressors, boilers, electrical controls, pumps, fans, and HVAC equipment and systems. Maintains, tests and inspects all plant fire prevention and emergency response systems and equipment. Performs general building maintenance as needed.
Job Scope:
Works under general supervision. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
Primary Responsibilities:
Operation inspection and repair of ammonia refrigeration systems in accordance with IIAR and ASHRAE standards, state and local building codes, and required safety regulations.
Performs periodic inspections to locate and determine cause of equipment malfunctions.
Troubleshoots, maintains, repairs, and inspects ammonia compressors, air compressors boilers, electrical controls, pumps, fans and HVAC equipment and systems.
Maintains, tests and inspects all plant fire prevention and emergency response systems and equipment
Sets and adjusts controls and regulators
6. Performs general building maintenance as needed
7. 24 hour Hazmat trained. Performs spill clean-up and evaluation of chemical releases
Experience and Skills Guidelines:
High school diploma (or equivalent)
Trade school and or five to eight years related experience
Applies extensive knowledge of standard concepts, practices and procedures
Previous food manufacturing and/or cold storage warehouse experience desired for this position
LOTO knowledge and experience
Experienced electrical troubleshooter required at this position
Completion of Refrigeration operator level II training
Worksite Measures:
Works throughout plant on all levels
Critical Physical Demands:
Lifts and carries up to 75 lbs occasionally
Pushes /pulls up to 500 lbs (on rollers) occasionally
Has adequate lung capacity to be able to wear a respirator for specific job functions
Must be able to climb ladders frequently
Must be able to work mandatory overtime days as well as work overtime on short notice.
Plant Environment:
The plant work environment will expose the employee to loud noise, food grade dust & odors, moving & vibrating machinery, heavy equipment, powered industrial trucks, heights, traffic, anhydrous ammonia, oil and electricity. The employee may be exposed to adverse weather conditions including extreme cold, heat, rain, snow, dust, smoke and odors.
