Our Alaska production facility in Kodiak, AK needs a PSM certified Refrigeration Manager. We operate year-round and need a full-time Refrigeration Manager to live and work in Kodiak. You will coordinate, operate, repair and maintain all refrigeration-related equipment handling ammonia systems and Freon.
Duties of the position:
Maintain Refrigeration equipment and keep in good working order
Install, service, and repair refrigeration systems and equipment such as condensing units, compressors, and evaporators
Connect refrigeration lines and electrical power sources, handling hazardous refrigerant substances, and checking systems and equipment for leaks
Inspect, adjust and monitor refrigeration system for most efficient means of operation
Maintain daily preventive maintenance log records of the system
Apply troubleshooting methods, replace parts and run tests to ensure the systems are working properly following repairs
Upgrade systems to satisfy new regulations or meet new standards
Service plant calls promptly
Accompany representative of State and Federal Inspectors
Train back up refrigeration operator
Accurate on paperwork
Oversee and manage 3 refrigeration techs
To be successful in this position:
Refrigeration Manager must possess strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills. They should have the ability to work both independently and in teams as needed. Good math, communication and basic computer skills are also essential. Must be OSHA required process safety management program fluent. Must be able to prioritize workload and work well under pressure despite constant interruptions. Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills required. You will work 60-80 hours per week.
Core Skills:
Understanding the operations of commercial and residential refrigeration systems
Diagnosing malfunctions and defects in equipment
Reading blueprints and electrical and electronic schematics
Grasping electrical concepts
Operating tools, gauges and other testing equipment for refrigeration systems
Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges and precision instruments, pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, jacks and hoists
Operate/monitor the computer-based refrigeration system and monitoring device and Process Safety Management documentation
Risk Manage Plan (RPM) training
Qualifications:
Associate Degree (two-year degree) in HVACR, Refrigeration/Electrical, Trade School Certification, or equivalent experience
Five years’ experience in Refrigeration/Electrical/HVAC or equivalent experience.
Ammonia Refrigeration, CFC Confined Space Certification
Special skills: Glycol Systems, FRICK systems operating platform, HAZMAT, and Low Voltage Control Systems
OSHA, Good Manufacturing Processes, PSM, and RMP
OSHA Level A Hazmat Certification
OSHA HAZMAT, incident Command Training
Need RETA (CARO) Certified Assistant Refrigeration Operator Certification
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Work in varying temperatures around freezers, ice machines, and retorts
Lift and carry equipment, stand, kneel or stoop for long periods of time
Exposure to processing equipment, forklifts, moving equipment, cleaning chemicals, solvents, and loud noise levels
Required to wear personal protective equipment
Ability to use and climb a ladder to multiple levels
Must be on call 24 hours 7 days a week during peak season
Floor and dock surfaces are wet and slippery
Ability to work in confined spaces
Exposed to outdoor environment with wind, rain, snow, and icy conditions
