Purpose of the position

The Maintenance Technician, under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, maintains, repairs, installs, troubleshoots, inspects, performs equipment changeovers and modifies, blending, mixing, and packaging equipment (mechanical and electrical).

 

Essential responsibilities & duties

▌Responsibility 1 – Follows all safety procedures and GMP’s.

▌Responsibility 2 – maintains, repairs, installs, troubleshoots, inspects and modifies blending, mixing, and packaging equipment (mechanical and electrical).

▌Responsibility 3 – Performs equipment changeovers for various product sizes on various packaging machinery.

▌Responsibility 4 – Assesses needs in regards to maintenance, spare parts, modernization and improvement of process.

▌Responsibility 5 – Performs other related duties, tasks and projects as assigned by direct supervisor.

▌Responsibility 6 – Able and willing to work overtime when required.

Academic qualifications

Essential

2 years of experience with repair, and maintenance of food processing equipment or similar.

Desirable

2-year program in manufacturing engineering technology or equivalent with emphasis on mechanical / electric or 2-year program in automation / robotics

Work experience & skills

2 years of experience with repair, and maintenance of food processing equipment or similar.

Mechanical and electrical skills.

Electronic skills

Experience with basic hand tools and electrical meters.

Ability to read electrical diagrams.

Ability to identify, evaluate, and problem solve.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Excellent interpersonal communication skills and relationship building skills to effectively work, with a variety of people and personalities; able to communicate clearly and effectively to all levels of the organization in person and in writing including training.

Proficient software skills, Outlook, Word, Excel

Desirable

Light machining skills.

Physical requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk or hear; and use hands to handle, or touch objects or controls. 

The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, twist and squat. 

On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders, apply manual dexterity and visual acuity for using tools and plant equipment. 

The employee must occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and/or use minimal amount of force to carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. 

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work environment

Must be able to work in office and food manufacturing environments, including handling and coming into to contact with allergens, pungent odors.

Some areas require PPE, personal protective equipment.

Maybe required to work weekends / overtime.
