Position Summary

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overall equipment repair and maintenance as well as regulatory requirements related to maintenance for the plant.  Proposes and leads projects to upgrade equipment/facilities consistent with company goals and government regulations. Manages the Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) and the Maintenance Stock room department. Prepares and monitors department budget, hires and manages required maintenance staff to meet or exceed goals in the area of productivity, cost, safety, morale, quality and service.

Essential Job Functions

  • Develops preventative maintenance programs for the equipment working with the maintenance employees and monitors execution of same, ensuring that maintenance personnel are assigned to repair requests and that the repairs are completed timely and effectively.
  • Leads projects involving the installation, modification or renovation of equipment and facilities.  Monitors project timelines and advises appropriate management on status.
  • Develops strategies and tactical plans to upgrade the facility and equipment for improvements related to efficiency, safety and reliability.
  • Collaborates with suppliers, contractors and other involved parties to ensure repairs and upgrades are completed in a professional manner in line with all plant policies to assure customer needs and plant strategic goals are met. 
  • Prepares maintenance and capital budgets, orders expense maintenance supplies and controls costs.
  • Hires, trains and develops required maintenance staff.
  • Supervise and implement training of employees on proper GMP’s, Lock-out/tag-out, HACCP, HAZCOM and other safety training.
  • Administers all contractor contracts, plant policies, and government regulations.
  • Works with all levels of plant management to meet plant goals for quality, cost, safety, efficiency, sanitation, productivity, and morale.
  • Supports the plant safety program through participation in the facility safety team and effective execution of actionable items.
  • Develops and implements projects to support food safety and environmental programs as needed.
  • Manages and support the MRO stock room and inventory control.
  • Serves as the facility “key-master”.
  • Maintains the fire suppression and alarm system.
  • Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.

Education/Training

Required:   

  • HS degree or equivalent

Preferred:  

  • BA/BS in Engineering or technical field

Experience/Knowledge/Abilities 

Required:

  • 5 to 8 years related experience (maintenance with supervision)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office products
  • Leadership, training and coaching skills
  • Working knowledge of FDA, OSHA and environmental food manufacturing standards.

Preferred:

  • 8 to 10 years related experience
  • Food manufacturing experience
  • Some management experience with a computerized preventative maintenance program

Travel Required:  Some travel
