Job summary

Provides materials, equipment, and supplies by directing receiving, warehousing, and distribution services; supervising staff.

Essential functions/key duties & Responsibilities

  • Strategically plan and manage logistics, warehouse, transportation, and customer service
  • Direct, optimize and coordinate full order cycle in cooperation with production control regarding priority to support customer satisfaction. Where necessary supports customer’s requirements for data necessary to complete shipments
  • Gathers and compiles new customer requirement information to develop and distribute Customer Profiles
  • Liaise and negotiate with suppliers, manufacturers, and customers
  • Keep track of quality, quantity, stock levels, delivery times, transport costs and efficiency
  • Arrange warehouse, production, plan routes and process shipments
  • Maintains receiving, warehousing, and distributing operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing programs, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols
  • Controls inventory levels by conducting physical counts; reconciling with data storage system
  • Maintains physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement
  • Achieves financial objectives by preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions
  • Supervise, coach and train warehouse personnel and support staff to ensure effective completion of all tasks associated with shipping, receiving, inventory control and sales order management
  • Meets cost, productivity, accuracy, and timeliness targets
  • Ensures compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations regarding logistics and makes sure carriers are also in compliance
  • Schedules and tracks inbound and outgoing shipments
  • Resolves customer complaints relating to transportation and other logistical issues
  • Coordinates with the purchasing department with regards to incoming deliveries of raw material and supplies
  • Coordinates with the production department with regards to transfer of raw material and finished goods in and out of the warehouse and production areas
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Provides assistance or direction to other production, QA, and maintenance workers
  • Performs other/additional duties and projects that may be periodically assigned

Qualifications/skills/abilities

Must have strong leadership and interpersonal skills with ability to manage and develop team. Demonstrated understanding of consumer good industry and should have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Proficiency in SAP or Dynamic ERP preferred. Physical ability to frequently lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.

 

Education

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Training

ISO training and Forklift training required.

Experience (Type & Duration)

4-5 years of warehouse management experience required; or equivalent management experience preferred.

Supervisory responsibility

Exercises direct supervision over warehouse employees.  Supervision may include hiring and training, assigning work, evaluating performance, handling grievances, and disciplining employees.

Physical/Mental requirements

Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  Work includes frequently stooping, bending, grasping, handling, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying items. Regularly lifts and/or moves up to 10 pounds, frequently lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lifts and/or moves more than 100 pounds.

Work Environment

Work performed in a food processing plant setting.  Job may require extended hours and shift work, with exposure to hazardous chemicals, production machinery, high noise level, and constant standing on concrete surfaces.  Position may have on-call responsibilities.
