Responsible for safely loading, securing, transporting, unloading and driving a company vehicle while delivering product to end user. The individual performing this job function is empowered with adequate authority to exercise the required duties and responsibilities of the position to ensure that all work performed meets or exceeds LEGACY SCS standards for safety, quality, and productivity.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. To safely deliver product from warehouse to customer/end user.
  2.  Loads and unloads product from truck in a timely, efficient, and safe manner.
  3. Strives to meet on time commitments.
  4. Assists customer(s) during the loading / unloading process when applicable.
  5. Operates materials handling equipment safely and efficiently as required.
  6. Assists in maintaining the security and safety of the loading dock area and company vehicles.
  7. Assists in maintaining the security and safety of the loading dock area and company vehicles.
  8. Counts and/or verifies freight for accuracy prior to and during loading process. Counts and verifies purchase order numbers and product during will call process. 8. Maintains a clean, neat, and orderly work area. (Company trucks and paperwork area)
  9. Abides by all OSHA rules, DOT regulations and LEGACY SCS safety practices.
  10. Drivers log sheets, route sheets and all other applicable paperwork to be legible, accurate and turned in daily. a. (ELD if applicable)
  11. For Class “A”, may have to operate trailer mounted mobile forklift for offloading

EQUIPMENT, TOOLS AND WORK AIDS:

Company provided 16- or 24-foot stake bed commercial truck, hand jacks, forklifts, uniforms and electronic communication devices.

Class “A” drivers to be issued appropriate truck for license and delivery when applicable. Class “A” equipment includes Day Cab, 48’ or 53’ foot flatbed trailer with gates and possible Princeton piggyback trailer mounted forklift. Electronic communication/routing devices provided.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, climb in and out of cab of truck and lift truck gates off and replace back on as well as accommodating customer’s requests as to where material is to be delivered. (Ex: 3rd floor, back of warehouse, loading dock, etc.). The employee is frequently required to walk; reach with hands and lift with arms, shoulders, and legs. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50+ pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
