GENERAL DESCRIPTION: This position is responsible for the safe transportation of employees to and from the plant and housing, hauling 40’ Freezer vans of product to city facility, hauling 40’ water tanker, and scheduled removal of garbage to city dump facility.

JOB DURATION: Seasonal, April 2018 thru August 2018. There may be opportunities to continue work at other Icicle locations throughout the year.

REPORTS TO: This position reports directly to the Asst. Plant Manager.

COMPENSATION: DOE, Daily Rate, Transportation is provided from/to Seattle upon completion of contract. Room and Board provided. Benefits provided upon eligibility.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work directly with Production Manager to coordinate driving schedules.
  • Operate and maintain company vehicles in a safe and timely manner.
  • Assist bus driver with crew movement when needed.
  • Maintain accurate temperature and container van logs.
  • Maintain an accessible and organized van yard.
  • Assist with other plant maintenance projects as needed.
  • Ensure all daily tasks are completed in compliance with Plant’s safety program.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current Class A CDL (w/endorsements) along with previous experience driving various commercial vehicles, to include straight shift vehicle.
  • Familiarity with diesel engine and generator unit helpful.
  • Working knowledge of the seafood industry helpful.
  • Responsible, organized and have good safe work practices.
  • An enthusiasm to assist in other tasks and grow with the facility.
  • Capable of working outdoors in Alaskan field conditions as needed.
  • Able to work fluctuating shifts structured around a 24-hour production schedule as needed.
  • Must have the ability to work well under pressure, 12-16 hours per day, 7 days per week.
  • Must be willing and able to work with other departments in a team atmosphere.
  • Must be willing and able to live and work in confined quarters in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Must be professional always and represent Icicle with the highest standards.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Must be able to work 7 days a week, up to 12-16 hours a day in wet, cold conditions. There are areas within the plant that contain moving and loud machinery, and hearing protection and other safety and protective equipment are required.
