Summary

Oversees sanitation employees to ensure pest control and sanitation are at standards required of Orion.

 

Essential Functions

·       Confers with VP of Manufacturing and other personnel on sanitation problems. Recommends changes in equipment, plant layout, lighting, ventilation or work practices to improve sanitation standards and purity of products.

·       Compiles reports regarding regular inspections, sanitation violations and steps taken to resolve deficiencies. Routes reports to appropriate personnel.

·       Studies production schedules and estimates hour requirements for completion of job assignments. Adjusts work procedures if the need arises.

·       Analyzes, resolves, and assists personnel in solving work problems. Motivates employees to achieve work goals.

·       Maintains timekeeping and sanitation records.

·       Directs the cleaning of equipment and work areas.

·       Inspects facility for unsanitary practices and conditions.

·       Directs production personnel in sanitary procedures.

·       Must be able to manage the department budget within guidelines.

·       Must have strong knowledge of chemical useage, strong time management skills and equipment knowledge.

·        Other duties as assigned.

 

Experience and Education Competencies

  • Education and/or Experience. Associate’s degree (A.A.) from two-year college or technical school or five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Must have three to five years experience as a supervisor or manager of a sanitation department in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Communication/Language Skills. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) is a must.  Ability to read and comprehend documents, simple instructions and product labels.
  • Technical Competencies.  Experience & knowledge in MS Office products (Excel & Word) and SAP preferred.
  • Certifications.  Forklift and palate jack certification preferred.
  • Mathematical Skills.  Strong analytical skills with the ability to calculate figures and amounts along with performing basic math functions.
  • Reasoning Abilities. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.  Strong analytical skills with ability to identify opportunities.
