As a Retail Refrigeration Technician, you will oversee the safe operation, daily monitoring, and maintenance of Retail HVAC/Refrigeration Equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage Refrigeration, Electrical, and HVAC systems including monitoring and trending, troubleshooting and repairs (Compressors, condensers, fans, heating, cooling, contactors, motors, microprocessors, etc.), conducting preventive maintenance (P.M.’s) within established timelines (Oil analysis, filter changes, calibration of sensors and transducers, compressor checks, etc.), leak detection, conducting required inspections and reporting, evaluating and implementing energy management strategies, ensure product integrity is maintained through temperature monitoring and control, evaluating and reporting equipment condition, clear and concise communication with Management, etc.
  • Knowledge in E2 Controller helpful
  • Responsible for logging time and materials into computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) on a daily basis in the form of work orders, P.M.s, etc.
  • Responsible for daily communication of all pertinent information regarding system operation and maintenance to departmental management and maintenance teams.
  • Responsible for housekeeping and cleanup of refrigeration machine rooms, refrigeration maintenance areas, and all project areas on a daily basis.
  • Required to interpret and understand plans and specifications, schematics, operating and maintenance manuals, etc. for systems being overseen.
  • Assist management in developing standard operating procedures, daily work schedules, and duty cycles for all repairs and maintenance for refrigeration and HVAC systems.
  • Coordinates with administration/store personnel about projects to be completed.
  • Repairs various items throughout the store for the purpose of ensuring that items are available and in safe working condition.
  • Requests equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of required items to complete the necessary repairs.
  • Maintains tools and/or equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of equipment in safe operating condition.
  • Transports various items (e.g. tools, equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at job site.
  • Follow safety rules to prevent injury and accidents, including lock-out/tag-out process.
  • Desired skill:  Kitchen Equipment Maintenance and repair
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, understandable manner and listen attentively to others, understand material, and provide appropriate responses. 
  • Ability to work varied hours/days including nights, weekends and holidays as needed.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree (two-year degree) in HVAC, Refrigeration/Electrical, Trade School Certification, or equivalent experience.
  • Two years’ experience in Refrigeration/Electrical/HVAC or equivalent experience.
  • Computer / Tablet knowledge
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Desired:  EPA Certification class 3 or Universal
  • Physical Demands and Work Environment
    • Physical ability to sit and stand for various periods and constant repetition of lifting (up to 100 lbs.), bending, pushing, stooping and performing all functions as set forth above
    • Work in varying temperatures
    • Exposure to cold/hot, cleaning chemicals, solvents, and moderate noise levels
    • Required to wear personal protective equipment
    • Ability to use and climb a ladder to multiple levels
  • Working with mechanical systems (e.g., knowing mechanical concepts, troubleshooting and repairing appliances, performing basic household repair in plumbing, circuits, fuses, and electrical components, operating hand tools and power tools, etc.)
  • Serving customers (e.g. ensuring appropriate communication with store managers, following up on customer requests, etc.)
  • Working with basic refrigeration systems (e.g., understanding refrigeration cycle, Freon, compressors, evaporators, condensers, etc.)
  • Working with electrical systems (e.g., understanding flow, wiring, outlets, etc.)
  • Working with plumbing (e.g., working with drains, water supply, ice makers, shut-off valves, sweating copper, filtration systems, etc.)
  • Equipment installation (e.g., HVAC, refrigeration.)
  • Repair and perform preventative maintenance on marketing equipment
  • Maintain parts inventory on service truck
  • Working with mechanical systems (e.g., knowing mechanical concepts, troubleshooting and repairing appliances, performing basic household repair in plumbing, circuits, fuses, and electrical components, operating hand tools and power tools, etc.)
  • Working with basic refrigeration systems (e.g., understanding refrigeration cycle, Freon, compressors, evaporators, condensers, etc.)
