Position Summary
The Refrigeration Technician will work on the Plant refrigeration and HVAC systems including, troubleshooting, repairs, and conducting preventive maintenance (P.M.’s) within established timelines.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Performing service, installation, preventive maintenance on all types equipment
Test components and diagnose root cause failures
Check for leaks, operate and read gauges
Read wiring diagrams, diagnose electrical and mechanical defects
Perform preventative maintenance, trouble shooting and overhauling of all the refrigeration system and building HVAC equipment.
Follow all safety rules and procedures when performing task
Maintain proper temperatures through the facility walk-in refrigerator and building HVAC
Able to work on weekends, holiday, called in when needed and rotating shifts when needed.
Record daily rounds on all refrigeration and boiler
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Must currently have or the ability to complete and pass refrigeration level I & II courses
Minimum 3 years’ experience
Must have an in-depth knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems and boilers
Experience in food manufacturing plant maintenance preferred
Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) Program and documentation and actively participate in Process Safety Management (PSM) Program
Ability to work independently is essential and have good communication skills
Physical Requirements
Refrigeration Technician must have the following abilities: lift/carry less than 100 lbs frequently; handle objects/manual dexterity frequently; reaching outward frequently; climbing around equipment frequently; climbing ladders and stairs to roof occasionally.
Work Environment
Work is performed indoor manufacturing facility with close proximity to heavy and hazardous machinery. Some work is performed outside of the manufacturing facility, including roof access. Safety wear is required, including hard hat, hairnet, hearing protection, safety glasses, steel toe boots, coats and other necessary equipment. When needed, Hazmat-related equipment must be worn (i.e. gloves, chemical-approved clothing, respirator).
