Job Summary:

The Refrigeration Technician maintains the engine room and refrigeration equipment and the performance of necessary preventative maintenance to all pertinent refrigeration equipment. The Refrigeration Technician performs all repairs on refrigeration system and routine maintenance on other related systems, including but not limited to evaporators, condensers, pumps and compressors.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintenance: Performs preventative maintenance (PM) programs for all aspects of the refrigeration system. Also directs tear downs, as well as the reassembly of all engine

room components.

 

Building: Maintains building electrical systems, as well as heating and cooling equipment. Also performs maintenance or general carpentry to items such as doors, floors, docks, dock levelers, overhead doors, freezer doors, roof, down spouts, product racks, and so forth.

 

Reporting: Completes required reports when maintenance tasks are completed.

 

Qualifications:

 

Experience or Training Required:

Prior anhydrous ammonia experience is essential

License or Certificate Required:

RETA certification after 3 years on the job

Mandatory Job Requirements:

1. Own transportation to and from work

2. Ammonia training and certification after 3 years on the job

3. Excellent mechanical skills

4. Must be clean shaven, and/or able to provide a seal for the ammonia mask

5. Basic understanding of electricity

6. Good health - capable of responding to emergencies 24 hours a day

7. Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
