This position is responsible for providing technical and administrative direction on Engineering Department managed projects. The candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to effectively interact with other inter-departmental team members, including the operations staff at all locations, outside support vendors and consultants. 

II.    Essential Functions

1.    Manage & execute complex & multi-faceted projects

2.    Direct multiple concurrent projects ensuring compliance with budgeted goals & funding

3.    Develop & mentor engineering & facilities associates in all facets of project management & engineering practices

4.    Provide expert consultation in conceptual design, development & implementation of manufacturing process quality & cost effective improvements

5.    Ensure compliance with engineering related federal, state & local regulatory standards & directives

6.    Identify technological alternatives and emerging advances related to Boar’s Head manufacturing processes & facilities

7.    Oversee utility management & refrigeration for all operating facilities to insure energy effectiveness, requirement compliance & identification of energy reduction opportunities

8.    Interface & negotiate with outside vendors & equipment manufacturers to obtain best value services & goods

III.    Education and Experience

•    Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical is preferred

•    Over 10 – 13 years experience managing groups that provide diverse technical support.

•    Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK)

•    American Meat Institute (AMI) guidelines for sanitary designs

•    Strong project management & organizational skills

•    Demonstrated track record of successful completion of projects within time & budget constraints

•    Experienced in coaching & mentoring skills

•    Knowledge of food manufacturing facilities requirements, with a focus on food safety.

•    Ability to interface with multiple levels within an organization to meet goals & objectives

•    Previous experience in regulatory compliance and utility management

•    Experience in manufacturing equipment selection, sourcing & installation

•    Strong problem solving & analytical skills

IV.    Additional Responsibilities

•    Ability to interpret and apply building codes within the food manufacturing industry.

V.    Language Skills

    Ability to effectively communicate in both written and oral formats to wide range of audiences.

 

VI.    Mathematical Skills

•    Ability and proficiency in Algebra, Geometry and Calculus. (College Level)

VII.    Reasoning Ability

•    Deductive Reasoning – The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce logical decisions

VIII.    Certificates, Licenses and Registration

•    PE desired

•    PMP desired
