JOB SUMMARY
The Project Engineer will provide input into the development of the annual capital plan and the long range capital plan. In addition, this position will be integral in vendor management activities to include but not limited to the following: design/layout, equipment selection, competitive bidding, project management oversight. The Project Engineer will also be a technical resource to all manufacturing locations, will provide input in the areas of maintenance strategy and systems, will work closely with quality to ensure compliance with food safety, food defense, and regulatory requirements, and will provide technical guidance on expanded packaging and process capabilities. This role will also be involved in the execution of sustainability projects focused on the areas of water, compressed air, gas, electricity, and steam. In addition, this role will also support key continuous improvement initiatives.
JOB DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide input into the design, development and implementation of infrastructure and process equipment, ensuring compliance with the quality of manufacturing within the specifications, guarantee a process capability according to the requirements of products established by the Company and maintain costs associated with such processes within the expected ranges.
Lead initiatives associated with the Engineering and development of lines of processes and optimization by aligning such developments with the requirements of food quality certifying bodies.
Provide input into the annual Capital project
Provide input into the Long Range Capital plan (3-5 years)
Provide routine reports on the status of projects and initiatives
Support investigation and evaluation of major equipment and process failures.
Participate and assist in cost reduction teams/projects.
Support both the optimization in the use o energy resources and the controls associated with environmental variables, support the development of strategies for continuous improvement and savings, seeking to maintain the Industrial Plant within high performance operating ranges and align the Industrial Plants with corporate objectives.
Foster and support Wis-Pak Mission and Culture.
QUALIFICATIONS
To be successful this individual must: exercise sound judgment in decision making, be goal oriented, possess a high degree of personal accountability, be a self-starter with passion for the job; and demonstrate a high degree of creativity.
Travel is required to manage specific projects, work with employees and plant leadership teams, provide follow up, and interact with various third-parties. This role will be expected to travel approximately 50% of the time and could flex to be higher depending on project workload.
This position requires: the ability to work effectively with all levels of employees, management, vendors.
Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and planning skills; and the ability to effectively influence others as needed are required.
A background in Program or Change Management or a proven record of developing organizational change is required.
A bachelor of engineering degree is required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
