NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR

Overview

PURPOSE:

Implement, coordinate, troubleshoot and administer the computer network for the organization. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Administer a Microsoft Windows network environment, including working with server hardware, software, cabling, switches and routers.
  • Monitor network systems performance.
  • Maintain network servers and network connectivity devices.
  • Monitor and maintain backup; implement and install network systems and equipment.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Coordinate and report on assigned projects and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to remain in a stationary position throughout much of the working day. Ability to occasionally move about inside the office. Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity equipment. Must have the ability to install and connect computer networking equipment in confined areas, sometimes low to the ground and sometimes at height. Ability to perform network maintenance on areas of equipment as high as 10-12 feet above ground as well as at ground level. Ability to perform work while on a man lift. Must be able to move items weighing up to 50lbs.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Must have graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, or related field.
  • Must have two years of recent experience equivalent to Network Systems Administrator, or equivalent combination of training and certification. 
  • Must have knowledge of current network systems including, switching and routing protocols. 
  • Must have knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, SANs, NAS, DHCP, DNS, DFS, SNMP, VPN, Active Directory, Exchange Server and Windows Server Administration.
  • Must be able to read and understand written information in English.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s license with a clean DMV driving record. 
  • Must pass pre-placement drug/alcohol screen, physical, functional capacity evaluation.
  • Must pass background check.
