Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician executes the scheduled and day-to-day activities of the Maintenance Department to ensure the plant meets department and overall plant goals of safety and quality. Performs all work in a manner that complies with all federal, state, local, SQF, company rules and regulations and with optimum regard for plant safety and Good Manufacturing Practices.
Essential Job Functions
Troubleshoots repairs and maintains plant machinery and equipment such as mixers, conveyors, compressors, and pumps.
Troubleshoots, repairs or replaces control devices such as switches, photo eyes, proximity sensors, pushbuttons, contactors, motor starters, etc. as needed
Troubleshoots repairs or replaces oven components such as burners, valves, bearings, scrapers, etc.
Troubleshoots repairs or replaces pneumatic and basic electrical power components.
Troubleshoots repairs or replaces PLC based control systems.
Preforms work order repairs, inspections and adjustments as well as preventative and predictive maintenance tasks.
Sets up and operates metal working equipment such as hand tools, welders, drill press, or grinders.
Monitors and assists outside contractors on/outside the premises.
Works closely with production, refrigeration and warehouse personnel to effectively resolve and eliminate plant and process problems.
Communicates daily all pertinent information to department management.
Works in conjunction with maintenance and refrigeration technicians to cross train on system maintenance to obtain adequate coverage across all shifts.
Assists management in developing standard operating procedures, and duty cycles for all repairs and maintenance, relating to process and packaging equipment.
Interprets and understands plans and specifications, schematics, operating and maintenance manuals for applicable system.
Maintains plant boiler and hot water systems.
Participates in plant safety, SQF, health and environmental programs.
Perform all other duties, responsibilities, and special projects as assigned
Education/Training
Required:
High School diploma
Preferred:
Technical College/PLC Certification Course
Electrical/mechanical experience, preferably within the industry.
Ability to stand on feet in a plant environment for up to 12 hours.
Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, and occasionally more pounds inside and outside of the facility.
Ability to stand, twist, reach, and bend on a regular basis.
Preferred:
Experience in a food manufacturing and packaging environment.
Working knowledge of PLC’s
Bi-lingual English / Spanish ability
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):

Apron or smock or uniform

Hairnet/beard net
Ear, eye, and head protection gear
Additional PPE may be required depending on task
