The HVAC Sheet Metal Mechanic/Installer will assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products (ductwork) and equipment, such as ducts, control boxes, drainpipes, and furnace casings.
Responsibilities and Duties
Job Description:
The HVAC Sheet Metal Mechanic/Installer will plan, layout, fabricate, assemble, and repair sheet metal parts, equipment, and products.
· Determine project requirements, including scope, assembly sequences, and required methods and materials, according to blueprints, drawings, and written or verbal instructions.
· Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine the timely sequence and accurate methods of fabricating and assembling sheet metal products
· Selects gauge and type of sheet metal according to product specifications
· Lays out and marks dimensions and reference lines on material to develop and trace patterns of product or parts, or uses templates
· Inspecting products to ensure quality and conformity to specification
· Fasten seams or joints together with welds, bolts, cement, rivets, solder, caulks, metal drive clips, or bonds to assemble components into products or to repair sheet metal items.
· Install assemblies, such as flashing, pipes, tubes, heating and air conditioning ducts, furnace casings, rain gutters, or downspouts in supportive frameworks.
· Maneuver completed units into position for installation, and anchor the units.
· Transport prefabricated parts to construction sites for assembly and installation.
· Drill and punch holes in metal, for screws, bolts, and rivets.
Qualifications and Skills
Job Requirements:
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, submittals, and specifications, understand shop math, and be able to work easily and skillfully with tools, metals, and machines.
· 5 years' experience in a related role
· Ability to read, write and verbally communicate effectively
· Travel may be required
· Physically capable of performing duties that include standing for long periods of time, walking & climbing ladders
· Ability to lift up to 75 lbs
· Must be willing to submit to background check/drug screen
· Familiar with building codes and requirements on the job sites
· Be able to follow OSHA requirements and safety precautions per company procedures and policies
