Overview

PURPOSE:

 

To analyze, repair and perform preventative maintenance on electrically, mechanically and pneumatically energized automated machinery and maintain complete and accurate documentation. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Setup, install, adjust, and maintain automated production equipment including conveyors.
  • Perform equipment maintenance on a routine, predictive, and preventative basis on automated equipment.
  • Responsible for inspecting and cleaning equipment on a regular basis to ensure proper operation.
  • Identify complex problems and implement effective solutions.
  • Observe automated equipment to ensure proper operation and effectiveness.
  • Ensure operation of automated machinery.
  • Perform troubleshooting on high and low voltage.
  • Work alongside mechanical maintenance technicians to preform repairs and preventative maintenance on automated machinery.
  • Train machine operators to operate equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Troubleshooting subject matter expert in automated machines.
  • Fill out logs and maintenance records as directed.
  • Follow the facilities Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and implement, at all times, the companies Lock-Out/Tag Out procedure.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

Must be able to remain in a stationary position throughout much of the working day. Ability to operate hand and power tools. Ability to work outdoors. Ability to work on and build equipment. Ability to occasionally move about inside food processing facilities (sometimes through narrow passages, in wet areas, or on elevated platforms). Ability to continuously work with product and equipment at ground level. Ability to inspect equipment and product. Must be able to work in different temperatures (working temperatures as hot as 100° to 110° F and as cold as -20° F to 32° F). Must be able to work in a high noise area. Must be able to move items weighing up to 75 lbs.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Associate’s degree in Automation or electronics preferred.
  • Experience troubleshooting packaging equipment, PLCs, Control systems, Robot Palletizer systems, and installing and programming VFD’s.
  • Experience working on minor electrical/ machinery breakdowns and troubleshooting and repairing Three Phase, Single Phase AC circuits, low voltage DC circuits, and all peripheral devices associated with electrical motors.
  • Knowledge in industrial electricity, control and pneumatic systems.
  • Must have a good understanding of the limitations, and proper use of basic hand tools such as screwdrivers, digital volt/ohm meter, cordless power tools, sockets and wrenches, hammers, wire stripers, hex and allen keys, and pliers.
  • Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Must be level certified by the Malaga Electrical Department prior to working on any electrically energized machinery.
  • Must be able to understand information on plant systems, machinery nomenclature, ladder logic diagrams and basic control and electrical schematics.
  • Must be able to understand and demonstrate basic electrical safety procedures.
  • Must be trainable in all aspects of safety as it pertains to the maintenance and repair of dangerous and potentially dangerous machinery.
  • Must demonstrate a willingness to learn new techniques and be able to maintain a friendly and productive attitude.
  • May be required to work overtime or weekends, rotate to a different shift or travel to other
  • Grimmway plants as needed.
  • Must have the ability to travel occasionally when necessary to: Yuma, Coachella and Westmorland.
  • Must be able to read and understand written information in English.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean DMV driving record.
  • Must pass pre-placement drug/alcohol screen, physical and functional capacity evaluation.
