Summary:

  • Responsible for and assisting with the supervision, leading and guiding of all maintenance lead-associates, forklift mechanics, building maintenance, and ammonia refrigeration mechanics. 
  • Ensure all maintenance work is done as assigned by reviewing and following up on work. Identify potential problems and plan resolutions. 
  • Maintain and monitor insurance company records and forms, PM records, Fire systems and Refrigeration systems. 
  • Ensure all building maintenance duties are performed in a timely manner.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5+ years of recent and proven maintenance experience - Required
  • Proven Industrial / Commercial Anhydrous Ammonia Refrigeration system experience - Required
  • Experience with fire system, monitoring systems, inventory systems, computer and server systems, HVAC systems, back-up generators, mobile generators. - Required
  • Management, supervision or lead experience a plus
  • Experience in distribution facility preferred

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, but not restricted to;

  • Responsible for the supervision of all lead-associates, forklift mechanics, building maintenance, ammonia refrigeration mechanics including labor and expense control. 
     
  • Assist with the management of work performed at this distribution facility; Grocery, Perishable and Transportation buildings.
     
  • Assist with the management and proper function of all facility systems; including but not limited to: refrigeration system, fire system, monitoring systems, inventory systems, computer and server systems, HVAC systems, back-up generators, mobile generators, etc.

 

  • Work with the safety department and maintenance manager to ensure that all personnel are properly certified and trained for their positions and the equipment used to perform their jobs.
     
  • Identify potential problems and plan resolutions.
     
  • Maintain and monitor all insurance forms and records, PM records, Fire Systems, Fire Inspections, Refrigeration systems, testing and records, all rolling warehouse equipment and work orders for building repairs.
     
  • Assist with the monitoring of programs to ensure the proper control of hazardous chemicals.  SPCC or spill controls, BMP for facility water run-off, erosion control measures, and storm water testing.  Assist with maintain disaster recovery/emergency preparedness plan.
     
  • Assist with the management of outside contractors and vendors.
     
  • Assist with the control of all costs/invoices associated with building maintenance and/or equipment parts.

 

  • Assist with the planning and implementation of all annual, semi-annual, 3 year, 5 years, etc.; training, testing, calibrations, and maintenance required by local, state and federal rules and mandates.  Note: See the current maintenance calendar for these items.
     

 

  • Participates in the annual budget preparation and operates within the budget guidelines.  Assist with monthly detail trial and center exception reports
     
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary and safe environment.  Participates in the ongoing safety programs and safety related training for mechanics.
     
  • Maintain prioritized Maintenance Repair Spreadsheet with Description of Problem/Work to be Completed, Contact/Associate Assigned, Correction, Date Reported, Date Started, Estimated Completion Date and Date Completed columns.
     
  • Maintain and manage shop inventories with a monthly reconciliation

 

  • Participate and assist as requested in department audits; such and forklift parts inventory & battery audits.
     
  • Effective labor scheduling of all direct reports.
     
  • Establishes preventive maintenance procedures to ensure the timely repair of recurring maintenance tasks, i.e., gas heaters, outside lights.

 

  • Assist and respond to after-hours and/or week-end power outages, loss of refrigeration, back-up and mobile generators, fire system, weather emergencies or other situations as needed.

 

Observes mechanical devices in operation; listens to their sounds for proper operation or to locate any causes of trouble.

Properly service or perform preventative maintenance on the equipment or machines based on manufacture requirements or guidelines.  Lubricates and cleans parts.  Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.  Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.

Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.  Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.

Repairs or replaces defective parts.  Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.  Starts devices to test their performance. 

Sets up and operate industrial equipment and tools to make and repair equipment and install parts.

Maintain the appropriate service and repair documentation required by law and company policy for the refrigeration system.

Lighting, plumbing, heating & air conditioning and all other equipment and PM Maintenance assigned to them.

Initiates purchase order for parts and machines. 

General warehouse maintenance duties, rack repair, dock and door repair, building repair, banana rooms, lights, battery chargers and other items in the building that might arise.

Other duties may be assigned.

Education/Experience:

Four year college, Technical or vocational school, or university program certificate; or a minimum of 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must have Industrial / Commercial Anhydrous Ammonia Refrigeration system experience.

 

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general professional journals, technical manuals

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This job will supervise the warehouse maintenance associates.
