Assistant Controller at Salinas CA

 Christensen & Giannini, LLC is a well-established, farming company. We specialize in leafy greens with ranches located in the Salinas Valley. We are looking for an Assistant Controller to join our team. Under the direction of the Controller, the Assistant Controller will assist and support in the achievement of Company short and long-term goals and objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       Accounting:

o   Cost Accounting;

o   Oversee General Ledger activities, including preparation and review of account reconciliations;

o   Assist in preparing monthly financial statements, analyses and year-end closing;

o   Prepare quarterly documents for Controller review;

o   Maintain fixed asset records.
 

·       Human Resources and Payroll: 

o   Oversee Internal Payroll function, including payroll processing and, tax payment and reporting;

o   Prepare weekly management payroll;

o   Oversee health insurance activities;

o   Oversee 401(k) reporting;

o   Oversee various HR activities including Workers Compensation, Employee Safety Programs, Training, and Employee Notifications/Communications;

o   Assist in Annual 401K Audit.
 

·       Administrative: 

o   Assist with Government compliance requirements;

o   Administer General Liability insurance activities;

o   Prepare monthly Sales Tax return.

EDUCATION and BUSINESS EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

·       Bachelor’s degree or better

·       Cost Accounting / Job Costing

·       Understanding of Ag or Manufacturing accounting

·       Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel

·       Famous Software experience is helpful

·       Experience in MS Outlook calendar task scheduling

·       Working knowledge of GAAP and other Accounting Principles

·       Background in A/P, A/R, PR, Fixed Assets, Inventories and General Ledger

·       Good supervisory and communications skills, both verbal and written

·       Clean driving record, all candidates will be subject to background check and driving record screening

·       Bilingual a plus
