 Position Summary:

The Substrate Operator Lead is the lead operator of all equipment used in filling, casing, and cleanout. It is critical that the Substrate Operator Lead work in partnership with other departments to ensure that the area they are responsible for meeting standards of quality, cleanliness, maintenance, and efficiency as set out by the Growing Farm Management team

The Substrate Laborer works in a team led by Substrate Operator to fill and case mushroom houses with substrate.   It is critical that the Substrate Laborer works well with the team and under the guidance of Substrate Operator to fill and case the houses to the standards set forth by Growing Management.  The Substrate Laborer will also be utilized on non-filling/casing days to assist in other labor tasks around the farm as directed by the farm manager.

Assists higher level mechanics in repairing and maintaining machinery, mechanical equipment, and electrical systems in assigned area /department.  Possesses a working knowledge of all machines in assigned area. Adjusts process lines to accommodate type of product being run. Performs preventive maintenance to ensure Food Safety and Food Quality. Ensures safe shutdown and safety lockout/tagout prior to test and repair of equipment.  Works under close supervision.  Must be available to work all shifts, as required.
